iflix Feted as Number One OTT Video Service at Telecom Asia Awards

iflix, the major entertainment service for emerging markets, has been hailed as the Best OTT Video Service at the 21st Annual Telecom Asia Awards. The Kuala Lumpur-based subscription video-on-demand (VOD) service has been selected for its groundbreaking business design.

The yearly Telecom Asia Awards is the most respected and the longest-running awards ceremony recognizing the best performers in the telecom industry. This formal occasion honors operators and service providers in Asia and this year, the theme is “Getting real with digital.”

The winners were chosen by a stand-alone group of industry specialists. Allan Tan, Questex Media’s Regional Content and Strategy Director, cited the criteria for judging: technology adoption, ingenuity, financial performance, corporate governance, business value, and market success.

Tan mentioned that the judges concurred that iflix’s victory in the market is a strong bellwether of the company’s outstanding entrepreneurial strategy. This is in spite of the strong competition posed by international and traditional content providers.
