Today, NFL Network and NFL RedZone were dropped from the Sling TV and Dish Network lineup. Dish and Sling had already dropped Fox Regional Sports, so they certainly aren’t new to dropping big networks.
Beforehand, NFL Network was available in the Blue plan with Sling. The same applied to Fox Regional Sports Networks. If you wanted to watch NFL Redzone, you needed to have the Sports Extra pack. So if you are a major NFL fan, you will need to watch it via Fubo TV.
Dish has said in a statement, “we appreciate your patience as we continue to work with the NFL. Our goal is to reach a fair agreement with the NFL, bringing their channels back before the season begins so that you don’t miss any live sports action.”
NFL Media said, “While NFL Media remains committed to negotiating an agreement and has offered terms consistent with those in place with other distributors, DISH has not agreed. Without a distribution agreement, DISH and Sling subscribers will miss out on…all 65 preseason games, including a record 23 live out-of-market games…a slate of exclusive games kicking off with a trio of matchups at the start of the NFL season in addition to two Saturday doubleheaders in Weeks 15 & 16.”
Back in September, FOX, FS1, FS2 & Big Ten Network were removed from the Sling TV & Dish Network, and then added back two weeks later. However, the Dish Chairman had this to say, “It doesn’t look good that the regional sports will be in Dish again.”
In June 2018, Dish and Sling TV has a carriage dispute with Univision, UniMas, and El Rey. They lost this dispute. After nine months, the channels did make a comeback to Dish, but never came back to Sling TV.
HBO and Cinemax even we’re removed from Sling and Dish in a similar dispute, however, this was with AT&T, and never made a comeback.
