A Hulu update is coming! This update will make it easy for customers to find and access content local to them. You will now be able to filter content per your local area, which will be available through the live guide.
In addition to this, you will have a very wide range of channels to choose from. The major networks such as ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC. However, you can enjoy independent stations and other broadcasters such as PBS.
This wouldn’t take place straight away, although subscribers would have seen some changes already. The planned change would be a phased change, which is quite normal among streaming services.
Since Hulu launched in 2017, it’s truly been a hit amongst customers. Hulu offer a combination of live television channels in addition to a large catalogue of on-demand streaming.
Hulu have spent a lot of time improving their service, and have shown this through multiple small changes to take ther services to the next level.
As of the first quarter of 2024, Hulu had 49.7 million subscribers in the United States. In addition to the impressive subscriber numbers, they also generated $2.95 billion in Q1 alone.
However there was a slight drop in subscriber growth, which was 5.5% year on year, in comparison to growth in the years prior. There was also record-high cancellations, with 50.4 million cancellations their subscriptions in Q1 alone.
This may not directly be an issue with Hulu as a service, because streaming services as a whole gained more subscribers than the same quarter of the previous year. A likely reason for this could be that we’re in a time where consumers tend to chop and change services regularly, leading to cancelling and signing up elsewhere.
If Hulu contiue with these changes in favour of the subscribers however, new customers will certainly follow eventually.
