The WWE are in a phase of transition, looking to do things very differently since parting ways with Vince Mcmahon. They are clearly putting a huge emphasis on streaming, which was evident after WWE RAW made a deal with Netflix for next year.
Another huge move is the Smackdown’s decision to move away from streaming on Hulu. Their relationship has lasted more than 5 years, starting all the way back in 2018. Customers were slightly confused by the move, and was expecting this week’s episode to uploaded as expected, but Hulu were forced to explain why this wouldn’t be happening.
The contract between the two expired and was not renewed. Not only will the next day episodes be brought to a hault, but the previous episodes have also started to disappear slowly.
WWE Fans will need to consider where they can enjoy episodes next. The first place that comes to mind is Peacock, which not only streams the next day episodes, but also have contracts in place to stream major events such as Wrestlemania.
RAW moving to Netflix is the first time that any WWE owned platform will appear on Netflix. NXT has signed a five year deal the the CW Network.
Since the Network’s gradual phase to Peacock, their intention to change things was evident. However, fans haven’t been entirely pleased with the move. Many have complained about issues with the interface, and have complained that it’s been difficult to locate particular shows or events.
It’s not clear where Hulu stands with the WWE as a whole, and whether any different shows could be added to Hulu at a later date. However, it’s also clear that the main priority for the WWE seems to be Peacock, as well as Netflix.
